Valentyna Danishevska Was Elected as President of Supreme Court, Bohdan Lvov – as Deputy President

The candidacy of Valentyna Danishevska was supported by 67 of 111 judges registered at the Plenum of the Supreme Court.

Mrs. Danishevska was elected to the post of the President of the Supreme Court by means of secret ballot for the term of four years.

After the announcement of the vote results, the President of the Supreme Court, who is a member of the High Council for Justice, took an oath.

Previously, Valentyna Danishevska worked as advocate, director of the “Centre of Commercial Law” charity organization. She has significant judicial experience and is an ideologist of many reforms.

The basic authority of the President of the Supreme Court is represented, particularly, by securing effective functioning of the Supreme Court, representation of the Supreme Court as the highest court within the court system of Ukraine in relations with bodies of state power, bodies of local self-government, private individuals and legal entities, as well as the judicial authorities of other countries and international organizations

Under the proposal of the SC President, Bohdan Lvov was elected as the Deputy President of the Supreme Court.

The Deputy President of the Supreme Court is elected by the Plenum of the Supreme Court for the term of four years. The decision on his election to the post is adopted by the majority of votes from the general amount of judges at the Supreme Court Plenum by means of secret ballot.
